The prophet

New design for Khalil Gibran’s book

Gibran was born in Lebanon as christian, but was very connected to the Sufi stream of Islam, which basically expresses love and respect for every human being. The Sufis believe that divinity created the world as one unity operating within the framework of harmonious laws of balance between giving and receiving.

The design was done as part of an academic project.

The design combines three languages, each of them adds another layer to Gibran’s unique points of view and thoughts.

The main text is written in Hebrew; the modern calligraphic elements are Arabic and the English language shows quotations from Gibran about unity. Despite having individual characteristics, all three languages become equally important.
