Poster design for a reggae festival in a modern and contemporary spirit. Simplifying familiar elements using basic shapes to show the roots of Rastafari culture based on connection to earth .
One of the main symbols of Rastafari is The Lion of Judah. It derives from the blessing given by Jacob to his son Judah in Genesis 49:9, which he calls him “Young Lion.”
The symbol designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement in 1958 is now widely known as the “peace sign”
Many Rastafarians believe that cannabis is ‘holy’ or ‘green’ herb mentioned in some translations of the Bible, that smoking cannabis is sanctioned by the Bible, cleaning the body and mind - bringing the soul closer to Jah.
Every culture has its specific musical genre and the Rastafarians look to Reggae as theirs. Many songs share messages about Jah, unity, Rasta consciousness and standing up against Babylon.
